SPECIAL REPORT: White House email expert calls for Special Prosecutor

Palm Bay, FL -- ZATZ Publishing today announced the publication of our latest Special Report on the White House email controversy: It's time for a Special Prosecutor.

Authored by David Gewirtz, ZATZ Editor-in-Chief and the author of Where Have All The Emails Gone?, this latest Special Report spotlights the increasingly apparent examples of massive negligence within the White House Office of the Chief Information Officer, this time resulting in evidence that the White House has irrevocably broken at least two key federal laws: the Presidential Records Act and the Federal Records Act.

The Special Report also explores how ranking members of the House Oversight Committee have virtually guaranteed that none of White House's email problems will be resolved until the end of the next administration, four years after George W. Bush leaves office.

The 2,690 word report explores the following issues:

  • How the White House Chief Information Officer has admitted that the Executive Office of the President can't account for any email messages at all during the months of the initial Iraq invasion, March 2003 through May 2003.

  • How this statement indicates the White House has broken two key federal laws: the Presidential Records Act and the Federal Records Act.

  • How the White House wrongfully and misleadingly claims it can't keep track of old hard drives because asset management for computers parts wasn't invented until sometime after 2005, a completely specious argument.

  • How the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has given the next administration, regardless of who's in office, a complete and total pass on making any change to their email record keeping practices.

  • Finally, David recommends that it's sadly now time to move this case out of the hands of Magistrate Judge Facciola and District Court Judge Kennedy and into the hands of a Special Prosecutor.

According to Gewirtz, "White House email is very problematic and, instead of productive action, we're seeing our Washington friends -- even those charged with ultimate oversight -- ignoring very practical solutions and instead spinning their wheels, at the expense of both present day Americans and the historical record.

"What offends me as an IT professional," says Gewirtz, "is that none of these problems are insurmountable. In fact, most of them are easy to solve. What's worse: not a single private-sector CIO would be allowed to get away with negligence on this massive scale."

This ongoing story has reinforced once again just how important David's recommendations in Where Have All The Emails Gone? are. Those six steps may be the only path that will prevent the problems we seem to be constantly discovering from happening with future administrations.
